Our Community Standards

Torus Lookup is a friendly place, and we keep it that way with four hard lines. Not permitted anywhere on the site:

• Pornography or sexually explicit material
• Cults, coercive groups or exploitative recruiting
• Harmful connections — anything designed to exploit, groom or endanger
• Hate speech, or any other illegal content

You agree to these at registration and confirm them by email before your account activates. The full text lives in our Terms & Conditions. Posts that break them are suspended, and serious cases lose their account.

How moderation works

Nothing posted by the public goes live until a human has checked it — words and pictures. That's deliberate, and it's why a new post shows as "will appear once approved".

• Links are not allowed in posts — including www, .com, "(dot)" and similar tricks. Business websites have their own field.
• If a post can't be approved, we leave a note explaining why on your copy of it. Edit the post and it's automatically resubmitted.
• A suspended post has broken our safeguard terms; the note tells you what to change.

Edits to live posts are re-checked too — the checking never has a gap.

Reporting a post

Every public post carries a Report this post button. If something looks illegal, abusive, spammy or simply wrong, use it — tell us why in a sentence and our team takes a look.

You don't need an account to report. A post that gathers several open reports is hidden automatically while we review it, so the community is protected even before we get there. Malicious reporting, of course, is itself a breach of the rules.

Meeting people safely

Whether it's a shared-interest connection, a Lost & Found handover or a Free stuff collection, the same common sense applies:

• Meet in a public place the first time — a café beats a car park, daylight beats dark.
• Tell someone where you're going and who you're meeting.
• Verify before you meet — a quick phone or video call confirms a person is who their messages say they are. Catfish don't do video calls.
• Never send money to someone you haven't met, whatever the story. Nothing on this site ever requires it.

If someone makes you uncomfortable, stop replying and report the post.
